New album preview

A concert by the band Tata Bojs will be their last Prague performance prior to the release of their new album, planned for the spring of 2004. The last twelve months have been very eventful for the band – guitarist Maťo Mišík was replaced by Vláďa Bár early in the year. In March, the band was a double winner at Anděl 2002: they received Golden Angel awards (the Czech Grammy) for “Rock Album of the Year”, and “Best Video” for their French-language hit “Attention aux Hommes”. In May of 2003 the Bojs went on an extensive Bohemian-Moravian tour, and they spent the summer at festivals and preparing their new album.

Ondřej Pýcha (1975) began concentrating on portrait photography during his studies at the Secondary School of Graphic Arts, and due to his interest in music, he focused his lens on people from the world of that industry. His first one-man exhibition, in the Factory Art Gallery, is a cross-section of his work over the last seven years. The exhibition also includes as yet unpublished photographs and a set of exclusive of portraits of famous people who typically don’t like to be at the center of media attention – such as Iva Bittová, Tomáš Rosický, Jan Svěrák, and Jiří Schmitzer.

An abstract world

Eva Eisler is one of the best known jewelers in the world. With the exhibition “mono + Eva Eisler”, she reveals to visitors an aesthetic world that naturally crosses the borders of jewelry in the direction of architecture, fine arts, and design. The exhibit contains a line of products that she designed for the German firm “mono”, which has been specializing in the production of table ware for over a century. Besides this collection, the artist is showing her abstract drawings and jewelry, the heart of her work in recent years. The exhibition is a part of the Designblok ’03.

Canadian invasion

In mid-November, Canadian ensembles will take over the stage of Divadla Archa. The renowned dance company O Vertigo came all the way from Montreal to join this Canadian theater festival. The company was founded in 1984, and from the very onset has been associated with the name of its founder, artistic director and choreographer, Ginette Laurin. Contemporary Canadian drama is represented by the da da kamera ensemble, with its performance of In On It. The ensemble was founded in 1986 by the Canadian playwright and director Daniel MacIvor and the American producer Sherrie Johnson. Another guest will be the PME troupe, whose performance of Unrehearsed Beauty is conceived as an attempt to change the theater into a public forum, where one can express one’s personal and political opinions.

Kanadská sezona v Arše 2003
Divadlo Archa, Nov 8-22, performances begin at 8 pm, tickets CZK 190-390
