Fin-de-sie`cle through the eyes of an Ivančice native

This exposition, presented by Prague’s Obecní dům, assembles the work of Alfons Mucha that was created for the famous World Expo in Paris. Visitors are brought into the city on the Seine, which became the European metropolis of art at the turn of the two ages. Mucha, a Czech painter, lived there at the time, having settled in Paris in 1887. After the success of posters he did for the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt, the year 1900 and the World Expo gave him his next triumph. One part of the exposition presents Mucha’s paintings decorating the pavilion of Bosnia-Herzegovina, while the second part is devoted to a collection of the painter’s works for the bibliophile publication of the book Le Pater (The Lord’s Prayer).
