What did you want to be when you were a kid?
Superman or Captain Marvel.
In which country would you like to live?
If I wanted to live in a different country, I would live there (I would move there).
What truth about yourself would you like people to know?
That I’m not shooting only fat women!
Your favorite saying?
Dig one more meter and you will find treasure.
What is your state of mind these days?
Anger, because of the tiresome weather.
Your favorite insult?
What do you like in men and what do you despise?
I like their virility – but I hate their timidness.
What do you like in women and what do you despise?
In women I like everything – but I cannot support their lack of timidness.
If you were organizing a dinner to which you could invite five people from any place and any era, whom would you invite?
Mr. Karsten Fricke from Germany, David L. Morris from the USA, Alain Delage from France, Ms Sára Saudková and Robert Diviš, both Czech – they are all my friends. I invite them anyway, but they have never all met.
Do you have to be in love to make love?
I make love without love – it has nothing to do with it.
Do you think it is better to say everything or not to know everything?
It’s better not to know the truth. The man who is laughing is the one who has not heard the bad news yet…
How do you get up in the morning?
Very early – but it takes me some time before I stop moving like a turtle.
Your perfect day?
The day when I get several fees paid.
Would you go on a trip to outer space?
Yes. Even today I want to try everything.
What would be the first thing you would warn an extraterrestrial creature?
Beware of people – because they are pretty much swines.
Would you like a role in an action film?
Of course I would! I would prefer some kind of bad guy, in the style of Dennis Hopper.
Which Czech celebrity you would like to shoot?
Nobody. But wait! I tried to make a portrait of Bořek Šípek.
Did you ever make any unusual bet, and what were the consequences?
Fifty years ago – with many friends of mine – that if we survive the year 2000, on that particular midnight we will meet in front of Savarin. I was there – nobody else came.
Your favorite literary heroes?
Oblomov, Svidrigaljov (from Crime and Punishment), Eugen Gant from Look Homeward, Angel byTom Wolfe, and Hamlet, the Danish prince.
What was the last thing that was stolen from you?
A CD. Many times over – there is always just an empty CD case left.
Who do people get you confused with?
My twin brother.
How would you like to die?
Of old age.
