Like mature wine

After a three-year break, the band Divoký srdce (Wild Heart) has produced a third album at Indies Records – Pozdní sběr (Late Harvest). The group, centered around Michal Ambrož, presents a collection of colorful and diverse songs – and not only rock. The album has echoes of Irish folk, straightforward rock, Clash influences, and psychedelic haze, and yet manages to create a balanced and integrated impression. The album was created throughout last winter and spring. Besides nine entirely new songs, there are also two cover tracks: “If I Were a Carpenter” and “Ghost Riders In the Sky”.

A great actress takes center stageAt Divadlo Na Jezerce, Vladimír Strnisko is now directing a tragicomedy by Irish playwright Brian Friel, which was a part of the Divadlo na Vinohradech repertoire. This is the first time Jiřina Bohdalová and her daughter Simona Stašová have acted together. The original cast has been joined by five other alternating actors, the script has been modified, new music was added, and the sets are new. The story of Katty’s life develops as a discussion with the audience. She unsentimentally recalls her life, her younger brother’s return to the family and, finally, her stay in a retirement home.

The knight with a sad countenance

The National Theater in Prague will present soloist Irma Nioradze and Michael Lobuchin, stars of the Mariinsky Theater and the Rimsky-Korsakov Theater of Opera and Ballet in St. Petersburg, in the ballet Don Quixote. The author of the new version of the play is the head ballet master of the theater – Professor Nikita Dolgušin. The first time the novel’s chapters were choregraphed dates to the beginning of the 18th century, when the original version of the ballet was performed in Vienna. Since then the story has appeared in various versions by Noverro, Milon, Didelot, Taglioni, and Petipa. Marius Petipa first introduced this ballet to Russian audiences in Moscow’s Great Theater in 1869.
